The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed the conduct of its ward congress for July 31, 2021.
This will be followed by the local government and the state congresses.
The new date was contained in a letter, dated July 11, 2021, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The letter, which was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and its Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoehede, reads: “Further to our letter, dated July 6, 2021, on the above subject, we write to please inform you that the congresses will now begin on July 31, 2021, starting with the ward congress; local government and state congress will follow sequentially upon the completion of the ward congress.”
Also, the CECPC will be meeting today to ratify dates for other congresses and propose a date for the national convention, which will be conveyed to President Muhammadu Buhari for approval.
