Professor Johnson Kayode Adesodun, the Rector of the Ekiti State College of Agriculture and Technology, Isan Ekiti (EKSCAT) has charged the newly matriculated students of the institution to shun cultism and other immoral vices capable of truncating their academic pursuits in the institution.
He further stated that the nomenclature of the institution will be formally changed to bear the title ‘polytechnic’ in order to satisfy the yearning desires of the students and well-wishers of the institution.
He said “The state government is already working towards changing the name of the institution to bear polytechnic as against the name college to eliminate the confusion among students, staffs and the public on the correct status of the institution. A lot of people do not know that the institution is a polytechnic, they thought it is a conventional college of Agriculture”.
The Rector stated this recently during the matriculation of newly admitted 91 students saying the matriculation is the maiden edition to be held in the college as the ceremony officially marked the beginning of their academic pursuit in the institution.
He further enjoined the students to make use of the serene and quality atmosphere of the college to actualize their dreams of a better future, while reiterating that the school runs courses in Accountancy, Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science and Agricultural Technology among others.
He said, “The school has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct and that the management would not hesitate to impose maximum sanctions on any erring students found culpable of disobeying the rules and regulations guiding the school”.
Speaking further, the State Coordinator of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Alhaji Akeem Abdulammed further reassured the students that the Ekiti State House of Assembly will constitutionally enact the new law to change the name of the institution to go in line with the yearnings of the students and members of staff of the institution.
