The Segun Oni Movements has sympathized with the people of Ekiti State on the lingering fuel scarcity that has lasted more than a month in the state.

The movement described the situation as very pathetic as many have abandoned their vehicles and resorted to trekking because both commercial vehicles and motorbike fares have been excessively hiked.

In a statement made available to Journalists in Ado Ekiti by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Movement, Mr. Jackson Adebayo, the organization said the fuel scarcity being experienced has caused a lot of hardship for the people of the State.

The movement stated that it is very sad that the government of the state have decided to look elsewhere rather than tackling the problems occasioned by the scarcity.

Adebayo stressed that one would have expected the Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to take the bull by its horns by putting an effective task force in place that would not be bribed by those who deliberately hoard the commodity in order to make huge profit at the expense of the masses.

He advised the Governor to borrow ideas from his Ondo State counterpart, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who left the comfort of his office to visit fuel stations to ease the problem by force.

He said that the Government of the State is behaving as if it is not aware that some of the political office holder are among those who are feeding fat on the lingering fuel scarcity as some of them are also involved in the diversion of the products to the rural areas where they now sell above pump price.

“We appeal to the people of the State not to be depressed as we believe that a government that will be people friendly, that will be at home with workers and see to the end of their problems will be installed by God during the fast approaching gubernatorial election in the state.”
