Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers was the star performer for Dutch Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord as they reached their first European semifinal since the 2001-2002 season after a 3-1 win over Slavia Prague at Eden Arena on Thursday.
The former FC Utrecht player scored twice either side of Traore strike, before Sinisterra’s 78th minute goal put the game beyond the reach of a Slavia side with wingers Peter Olayinka and Collins Sor in the starting lineup.
It took Dessers less than two minutes to break the deadlock as he placed a shot into the far post and restored Feyenoord’s lead just before the hour mark when he rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into the empty net after intercepting a pass.
In recognition of his imperious display, Dessers has been shortlisted for the official UEFA Europa Conference League Goal of the Week for his left-footed strike in the first half.
Other nominees for the Goal of the Week are Nicolò Zaniolo (Roma), Eran Zahavi (PSV) and James Maddison (Leicester City) .
The Racing Genk loanee has also been nominated for the Europa Conference League Player of the Week and is up against Nicolò Zaniolo, James Maddison and Marseille’s Dmitri Payet.
Dessers is the joint-leading scorer in the Europa Conference League with eight goals, an honour he shares with Roma striker Tammy Abraham.
Feyenoord will battle Marseille in the Europe Conference League last four while Leicester take on Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the other semifinal.
