Comedian Ayo Ajewole, better known as Woli Agba is all set to celebrate two decades of creativity and fame in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The creative Nigerian, arguably one of the most popular ‘gospel’ comedians has also been talking about how he rose to prominence.

He said, “I will be celebrating my 20th years anniversary on stage on July 10 at Jogor Center, Ibadan. It will be a mind-blowing event and we will be taking people through memory lane. Notable artists will be present at the occasion. Ibadan will be excited to welcome their prophet with the oil of gladness”.

The Ibadan based comedian made these statements while featuring on a weekly radio show, Parrot Xtra/Ayekooto on Radio anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on Splash 105.5FM, Felele Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Tuesday.

He further revealed, “I was not born with a silver spoon, growing up, I struggled a lot and I wish other parents gave birth to me because my parents could not afford basic of needs of life except their words of prayer.

“Even eating of breakfast or lunch was seen as a luxury. Whenever we were hungry and we told our father, he would always tell us to pray.  Most times, we thrived on eating mushroom and snails; I can recall how I once sold bottles, hawked bread, drove a cab in order to make ends meet on the streets of Ibadan.

Continuing, he said “at a point, talent discovered us and I ventured into playing football before I and my brother, Olufemi Ajewole ventured into acting and comedy. We staged our first play on January 18, 2002 before I attained this present position of a prophet with oil of gladness”.

He further stated that he was confronted with many challenges at the early stage of his career while revealing that there are dues to be paid in order to achieve greatness and stardom.

He further said, “I remember having a confrontation with somebody who called me a wretched boy, Omo iya oni buredi, (Son of a bread seller) and that I am from a poor home. There are times for challenges and failures but many of these did not discourage me from moving forward. In life, there are reasons for failure before the attainment of success and celebration”.

Speaking on how he got his big break in the entertainment industry, “When we started, fame and money was not my focus but the love for what I was doing. I just loved what I was doing and it was my major source of inspiration. Later on, with the help of God, fortune started smiling on me and I worked to the point in which my services were in hot demand.

The popular skit comedian, however, urged youths to be submissive and be ready to offer valuable services before achieving stardom.

“My sincere advice to all youths is to be hardworking, focused, dedicated and persistent in whatever profession they find themselves; they should be very happy doing their job and be ready to submit to training”.

He further urged Government to fashion out policies on how to support the entertainment industry while stating that entertainers can be used as change agents in the transformation of the country and sensitization of Nigerians at large.
