The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the killers of a 40-year-old man, Wale Adeyinka, in Ibadan, the state’s capital.

It had earlier been reported that suspected armed robbers traced the victim to his house at Elebu area, on Friday night, after a programme at Jogor Center on Liberty road, Ibadan and shot him severally.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro on Sunday, said investigation had begun.

Osifeso said, “Investigation has commenced. Updates would be provided accordingly, please.”

One of the eye witnesses who did not want his name in print said, “He went for a programme on Friday at Jogor Center and he was traced to his house at Elebu. He was shot at close range by his assailants and they went with his car. He was, thereafter, rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost on Saturday morning.

“Meanwhile, after snatching the car, they drove it towards Mokola in that night and when they got to Queens cimena bus-stop after Dugbe, they run out of fuel and abandoned the car there.

“So, the people around thought they wanted to get fuel at a nearby petrol station until when the Nigeria police officials arrived the scene and told the people that the car was snatched and the owner has been killed.”

When contacted on phone, the victim’s landlord, Engineer Balogun, said he was in a meeting, saying, “I am in a meeting now. I cannot say anything. Please, call me back.”

All efforts to reach him as at the time of filing this report were not successful as he didn’t pick his calls anymore.
