The Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Zone XI, Otunba Femi Arowosola and other chieftains of the body on Wednesday visited the Agodi Area Command to sympathize with the leadership of the police formation over the attack and vandalization of the Agodi 2 Police Station, Gate area Ibadan, Oyo State by rioters.
The Police Station was under intense attack on Friday, February 3 when some angry protesters over scarcity of new naira notes and petrol, took advantage of the protests to vandalise the police station and a bank at Agodi Gate area of Ibadan.
Otunba Arowosola who was received by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Agodi Area command, ACP Taiwo Kasumu empathized with the officers and men of the Police division while pledging to assist the station towards securing the place against future occurrence.
ACP Kasumu who conducted the PCRC bigwigs round the damaged facilities thanked them for their good gesture and show of compassion and for identifying with the station during its trying period.
“The history of this place has shown vulnerability because of its open nature, as you can see that it’s not fenced with predominantly traffic Police officers that are not armed. I can assure you that our Commissioner of Police will act accordingly to forestall future attacks on this Police Station”, said ACP Kasumu.
Other PCRC executives that were on the entourage are Chief Francis Aimakhu, Chairman PCRC Agodi Area Command, Dr. Sola Adekoya, Chairman PCRC Felele, Chief Olayinka Banjo, Chairman Challenge, Pastor Lanre Aderajo, the vice chairman Agodi Area command.
Others included Hon. Biodun Bello, the Secretary Agodi area command, Mukadam Monsuru Oladele, from Idi-Aro division, Alhaji Diran Mustapha, Chairman Agodi division and Pastor Sola Akande, the Chief of Staff of zone XI.
