Super Eagles’ star, Taiwo Awoniyi, is back in training for Nottingham Forest and is recovering well from his injury.

Awoniyi has been sidelined with a groin injury since the start of January.

The Nigeria international was forced to leave the pitch during the Forest’s 1-0 win against Southampton at the St Mary’s stadium on January 4.

The 25-year-old scored the decisive goal for the Tricky Trees in the game but also suffered a groine injury, which has kept him out of Steve Cooper’s team for 10 matches.

The Nigerian switched to the City Ground Stadium last summer from German side, Union Berlin, and after a slow start, has adjusted to his new life in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, after a few games, Awoniyi started delivering Nottingham value for their money until he picked up the injury.

Forest manager, Cooper while speaking in the pre-match conference for their game against Everton on Sunday (today) confirmed that Awoniyi will soon make a return to the first team.

“Taiwo Awoniyi is progressing well, he works on the grass and comes back running. He’s not with the team yet and isn’t kicking any balls but he’s making progress which is good for him,” Cooper told reporters.

The striker has scored four goals in 16 league appearances for the Reds this season.
