Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce is planning to offer Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, a two-year contract extension.
Osayi-Samuel has been impressive for Fenerbahce in the last four seasons since he left QPR.
The 26-year-old defender played an important role for the team last season, registering four goals and one assist in 24 appearances in the run-up to their second-place finish in the Super Lig.
However, there have been strong talks that Osayi-Samuel may favor a return to the English Premier League, and he has been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace, although nothing is concrete yet.
But in a recent development, NTV has reported that Jose Mourinho wants Osayi-Samuel to remain at Fenerbahce; hence, they are looking to entice the Nigerian with a two-year extension.
Osayi-Samuel, who is currently on a €1.8 million contract, wants €2.5 million in his new contract, but both parties are yet to agree.
Fenerbahce has to decide on a course of action this summer because Osayi-Samuel’s contract expires at the end of next season.
A sale would profit the former Turkish champions massively because they acquired Osayi-Samuel for just over €500k four years ago, but he is now worth €8.5 million according to Transfermark, and that is a lot of money for any Turkish club.
