An Osogbo Magistrate court has remanded in Ilesa prison a 34-years-old student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Akanbi David for an alleged murder of his colleague, Amodu Kazeem Ige, a 24-years-old student of Civil Engineering Department of the same university.
David was arraigned on two count charge of conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Mr. Mereti Wilson told the court that Akanbi committed the offence on 16th of January, 2017 around 5p.m.
The charge sheet reads: “That you Akanbi David and others now at large on the 16th day of January, 2017 at about 1700hrs at Oke-Baale area, Osogbo in the Osogbo magisterial district did conspire to commit felony to wit: murder and and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 324 of Criminal Code Cap 34. Vol II laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
“That you Akanbi David and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district did unlawfully kill one Amodu Kazeem Ige by stabbing him with a knife on his chest which caused his death and thereby committed an offence contray to 316(1) andpunishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34. Vol II laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”
The accused’s plea was not taken and he was subsequently denied bail.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. Olusola Aluko ordered the accused to be remanded in Ilesa prison and then adjourned the case till 5th of May 2017 for mention.
Kazeem Amodu, a 300 level student of Civil Engineering UNIOSUN was killed in a fight that erupted among students of the institution on January 16, 2017.
