A former deputy governor of Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore on Wednesday visited the victims of Sabo/Ife crisis appealing to both parties to allow peace to reign.

Omisore noted that the Hausas have been living peacefully with Ile-Ife indigenes for about 200 years without any report of violence between them.

While condemning the crisis, he stated that it was very unfortunate that misunderstanding between two people could be hijacked by hoodlums and allowed to snowball into what resulted in the destruction of lives and property worth millions of Naira.

Omisore then called on all and sundry to exercise patients, tolerate each other and give peace a chance saying that there is no gain in war but peace promotes development.

He also asked the victims of the crisis to estimate the property damaged and send the list to him for his own contribution.

In his response, Alhaji Mohammed Mandagali, the Seriki Hausawa, who was represented by Alhaji Nasidi Malami regretted the incident.

Mandagali who said that Ife indigenes are peace makers, accommodating, friendly and loving, attributed the mayhem to the deceit of the devil and then appealed to both sides to forget the past, turn a new leaf by giving peace a chance.

The Obalufe of Ife Kingdom and Second-in-command to Ooni of Ife,Oba Idowu Adediwura,  lauded Omisore for his kindness and good gesture to his people.

Adediwura said that Omisore is a man of peace, who always promotes peaceful coexistence wherever he finds himself.

Also, the Jaran of Ife, High Chief Adekola Adeyeye, thanked God for peace that has started reigning in Ife, calling for continuity of peace and harmony on the ancient city.
