A governorship aspirant in Osun state, Dr. Kayode Oduoye, has appealed to Nigerians to use the major lesson of Easter as a guide towards re-building the nation.

Oduoye who made the appeal in a press release made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Sunday called for more sacrifice and commitment from the ruling class, saying that a little sacrifice from spending on frivolity can assist in building the country.

He noted that Jesus Christ left his splendor and glory to come in the form of  man  so that sinners can be saved, adding that the persecution, arrest, trial and crucifixion are the greatest sacrifices mankind ever witnessed.

He also attributed the current state of the nation to greed and self- centredness, and averred that, if people in positions of authority have made sacrifice their watchword, many Nigerians will queue behind them and make the nation great.

Oduoye then congratulated Christians on this year’s celebration of Easter and encouraged them to be happy in spite of the prevailing situation, knowing full well that better days are ahead, if all Nigerians start to  sacrifice for the betterment of the country.

Also, the President of Osun Ajose Foundation (OAF), Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, has felicitated with the ‎Christians in the state charging them to be good Ambassadors of Christ with a view to moulding the characters of all and sundry.

Alabi in a statement signed and issued by him ‎said it was imperative for Christians to live Christ-like life in the overall interest of the society.

The OAF president who noted that the laws of all nations were offshoots of the Biblical ten commandments said that it is doubtful if any good Christian can run foul of the law.

He charged the youths in the state to always resist any act capable of rocking the existing peace in the state in order for them to fulfill God’s purposes in their lives.

Alabi who reminded the youths that there could not be any gain without sacrifice, said the crucifixion and persecution of Jesus Christ on the cross should be a veritable source of education for them that it is sweetness that follows mastication of bitter kola.

The Ajose Osun Foundation President also tasked the youths to take advantage of the numerous developmental projects of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in the state under the leadership of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

He submitted that the APC government has indeed and still accomplishing indelible achievements in the state in all areas of human endeavours.

His words: “There is no time the history of modern Osun will be written that the name of the incumbent Governor Aregbesola won’t be written in gold because God has used him ‎to transform the state a great deal.

“It is visible to the blind, audible to the deaf and tangible to the idiot that the APC administration has increased the benchmark for governance in the state”.

‎Alabi advised the Christians and their well-wishers alike to celebrate Easter with moderation in line with the economic situation of the moment as it won’t serve any purpose for Christians to incur avoidable debt all in the name of celebration of the festival.
