The Ogun State chapter of Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has commended the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris on his decision to restore sanity on our roads, respect for the fundamental Human Rights of Nigerians and the efforts to salvage the masses from the shackles of ‘conspirators and oppressors’.

According to a special release from CHHR signed by Comrade Folarin Olayinka, the Chairman CDHR Ogun and Comrade Akiyode Okikiolu, the group’s Secretary, the IGP has done a lot of good for Nigerians by making this move.

It is pertinent to note that the evil perpetrations is often coordinated in connection with some conspirators in the Nigeria Police Force whose offices are mostly used as the domain for unlawful seizure of peoples property, freedom of Association has been deleted from their laws, the Local Governments touts, Motorcycle unions, Motor Car operators unions among others should not undermine the position of the law and it’s wrath, Freedom of Association is a non negotiable fundamental Human Rights of every Nigerian embedded in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(As amended) , we, in CDHR Ogun consider the decision as a conscience humane call and uses this medium to challenge the Nigeria Police Force Ogun State Command to align with the decision by calling to order Divisional Police authorities and other Police formations in Ogun state who often connive to breach the people’s rights on the ground of demonic and anti-people partnership with the identified criminals violating people’s rights.

The CDHR Ogun unequivocally wish to reiterate that further dastard act would be condemned and challenged accordingly, our Police Stations should not be touts’ abode while it is also important to remind the members of the Public that the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice  Ogun State has warned the Local Governments authorities found in the business of sending out touts for forceful arrests and extortion under the guise of enforcing traffic laws ,the Attorney General has stated last week that they lack the locus standi to engage in such and as such be treated as criminals, the public is hereby alerted to be weary of such and report accordingly, the only traffic law enforcement agencies are TRACE and MTD of the Nigeria Police Force

In as much as we remain committed to a working partnership with all lawful authorities in Ogun State including the Nigeria Police Force, the CDHR Ogun will not hesitate to expose,condemn and continue to challenge any act that will deprive the Nigerian masses of their Human Rights while we anticipate the maximum cooperation of the Ogun State Police Command in reiterating the efforts of the Inspector General of Police.
