Power pass power! President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Bashir Abubakar, who had earlier on Monday ‘banished’ Olalekan Adetayo, Punch Newspaper’s Correspondent at the Presidential Villa from his duty post has been overruled by his boss, the Director General, Department of State Services, Lawal Daura!

The DG, DSS has endorsed the return of the correspondent of The Punch newspapers, Olalekan Adetayo, to the Presidential Villa.

In a memo to the Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel in the Villa by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Mallam Garba Shehu, he said Lawal had cleared the reporter and that Adetayo be allowed back to his beat.

Shehu said in the memo: “We just got a clearance from Malam Lawal Daura, the DG SSS, to recall Lekan to the Villa.

“Please come along with him tomorrow.

“The Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina, and I will resolve the issues.

“Please advice the Correspondents and the rest of your members to handle this with maturity.

“It will not help anyone to start daring the security.

“Lekan should be assured that he is safe.

“We will straighten out everything.”

Adesina had earlier in the day tweeted that the Media Office in the Presidential Villa was not consulted before Abubakar took the decision to expel Adetayo.
