Oyo FA, Midtown Soccer Back Ibadan/Ibarapa Coaching Clinic

The Oyo State Football Association and Ibadan based soccer school, Midtown Football Academy have expressed their support for a refresher course being organized by Ibadan/Ibarapa Football Coaches Zonal Council that commenced from Monday 24th and to end on Friday 28th April, tagged “Modern Professional Approach to Coaching of Football”.

While speaking during the opening ceremony of the event which was widely attended by coaches across Oyo State, the CEO of Midtown, Bolaji Kayode said coaching education is part of the cardinal principle of Midtown and the firm cannot but to encourage and support the programme which is being held under the supervision of CAF ‘A’ and UEFA ‘B’ licensed football coaches.

The event according to the Ibadan/Ibarapa Football Coaches Zonal Council Technical Committee, headed by Coach Lawal Abiodun was designed to periodically refresh the minds of their members, especially the youth coaches within their jurisdiction that often engaged the younger ones in soccer training.

“The game of football is used to attract lots of people into the folds, either as players or trainers while some would veer into the administration of the game with or without having a basic knowledge of the vocation, hence we thought of this periodical refresher training to keep our people up to date”, said Coach Lawal popularly known as Udi.

Among the resource persons scheduled to deliver papers during the one-week clinic include Coach Adegoke Adeyeye Fetus, a retired grade 1 Referee and CAF A licensed football coach, Dr. Bolaji Iyanda of the University of Ibadan, Coach Samson Omiponle a UEFA ‘B’ coach, Coach Adigun Abidemi, former Railway Corporation FC head coach, Adejimi Femi a member of Ibadan Football Referee Society, Mr. Gboyega Makinde, the acting general manager, Oyo State Sports Council.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Oyo State Football Association, Chief James Odeniran in his remark gave kudos to the organizers of the program, while thumping them up for deeming it fit to be organizing a periodical train-the-trainer football clinic.
