The proprietor of Nigeria Professional Football League side, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Patrick Ubah, is currently looking for a football club to buy and he is discussing with Spanish and Israeli sides.

According to the Special Assistant on media to the Capital Oil and Gas CEO, Emeka Onyia, during a sports show in Onitsha, Ifeanyi Ubah is ready to buy any available club in Europe and right now there is a top discussion with clubs in Israel and Spain.

“Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah wants to buy a club in Spain or Israel. Right now, the identities of the clubs are yet to be made open, but when the deal gets through, it will serve as avenue for young players coming through the Anambra State FA’s ‘one family, one footballer’ program.

“Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has passion for the game, more so its multiplier effect on the economy since he strongly believes that football drives the economy,” Onyia said.

Onyia explained further: “For instance, if a footballer from a family makes it to Europe, he ultimately brings the money home to invest or build house which in turn boosts the business of the building material dealers, traders and others who in one way or the other sell their wares, offer their services in the course of building the house.”

If the deal eventually comes through, Ifeanyi Ubah would join Kunle Soname, proprietor of Remo Stars, who owns the Portuguese second division side, Fairense FC as the second Nigerian to own a football club in both Nigeria and Europe.
