Super Eagles new invitee, Kayode Olanrewaju has expressed his disappointment for missing out of Nigeria friendly against Crosica and Togo because of Club engagement.

Olanrewaju, who was named in the initial 25-man list, invited by Gernot Rohr for the May 22 camp, but the striker will miss because of club engagement and has since been replaced with Belgium based Henry Onyekuru, according to NFF media department.

Austria Wien has three Tipico League matches left before the end of the season and can seal their Europa League with the 24-year-old leading the attack.

‘It pains to miss this chance with the national team, but my club needs me badly.

‘We have a Europa ticket to fight for and it’s important for every player to be available and focused,” Olanrewaju said.

The prolific striker, who is the team leading goal scorer this season, disclosed he had a conversation with Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr over his unavailability and thanked the Eagles gaffer for the opportunity and vowed to return stronger for the team.

Nigeria plays Corsica and Togo in international friendly on 26 May and 1 June respectively.
