Former Super Eagles manager, Samson Siasia has urged the duo of Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho and Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi to leave their clubs to have more playing time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The Nigeria international youngsters have both struggled for regular game time in the Premier League this past season.

And Siasia wants to see them leave the big clubs and become regulars elsewhere to ensure they are fit and firing for Nigeria’s 2018 campaign.

“Nobody is happy that with the huge talents of Iheanacho and Iwobi they did not play many matches for Man City and Arsenal.

”We cannot also blame their managers Pep Guadiola and Arsene Wenger for leaving them most time on the bench because the players that played ahead of them are more experienced,” Siasia said.

The Olympics bronze winning U-23 team coach added that both Iwobi and Iheanacho must leave to club that will guaranteed them more playing time so that they will in their peak form for the country during next year World Cup in Russia.

“This why I would like them to seek playing time elsewhere if necessary to be able to be hot and smoking for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.”

Siasia was the first coach that invited Alex Iwobi to a Nigerian National Team, the Nigeria U23s, and would have handed him his international debut against Gabon in February 2015, but there were concerns about his eligibility for the All-Africa Games qualifier.
