Eagles’ Loss To South Africa: Man Slumps, Dies In Akure

The woeful performance and loss of Nigeria’s Super Eagles to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a Nation’s Cup Qualifier claimed the life of a man in Akure on Saturday.

The man, a retired soldier, slumped moments after the Eagles conceded a second goal and was rushed to an hospital where he gave up the ghost.

The man, whose name is still unknown at this time, had left his residence at Ajipowo area in Akure for the Barracks to watch the match live on TV.

The man, described as an ardent Eagles’ fan, reportedly watched the match at the Army Barracks in Akure alongside some friends.

His friends notified his family before rushing him to a private hospital after he collapsed. He died around midnight.

An eye witness said that the deceased was popularly called Mr. Nigeria due to his patriotism and that he kept a Nigerian flag hanging on his motorcycle always.
