A Social Political group, Osun Liberation Movement, on Thursday urged the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state to stop the campaign of calumny against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Osun West Senatorial District in the coming bye election, Dr. Ademola Adeleke.

The group which spoke against the video that has gone viral on social media where Adeleke was dancing with his daughter urged those circulating the video to stop it.

The Liberation Movement alleged that APC, was behind the circulation of the video online to score undue political point off the PDP candidate, insisting that the move has failed because Adeleke remains candidate to beat in the poll.

According to a statement issued in Osogbo by the convener of the group, Sam Segun Progress, it said the same Dr. Ademola Adeleke being castigated for dancing, joined APC governorship campaign and danced with all other lively leaders of the party, the development which contributed in no small measure in securing victory for the party at the polls.

Progress further noted that while Adeleke danced with his daughter in his private residence, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, as a governor of Osun state, was also in the habit of dancing at any given opportunity at public functions, and yet no one castigates him for doing so.

The statement reads in parts: “Our attention has also been drawn to the claims coming from the camp of APC that Dr. Adeleke’s PhD was honourary. We consider this as petty.

“President Buhari does not have PhD. Even our governor, Aregbesola presented only his WASSCE certificate. In Osun Liberation, we believe our politics should have grown beyond this level. Dr Adeleke with his PhD, also has wide experience in business and exposure needed in government business at the moment.

“It is also our candid opinion that only the best deserves to represent Osun West and we need not look further than Dr. Ademola Adeleke. But we want parties to run campaign devoid of malice. We must grow out of this pettiness.”
