Chief Bola Ige’s grandson, and proudly named after the Cicero of Esa-Oke, Ajibola Olumayowa Ige has bagged a $24,000 annual scholarship to study Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, the United States of America.

PMParrotng exclusively gathered that the scholarship will be for the five years that his course will run.

Ajibola Olumayowa, the first son of Architect Muyiwa Ige, by this achievement, will be following his father’s footsteps.

A source close to the family informed “Muyiwa too studied Architecture at IIT in Chicago and worked there briefly before he came back to Nigeria to practice.

Mayowa, the outgoing Head-Boy at The Vale College, Iyaganku GRA in Ibadan is already being congratulated by many, including some of his friends’ parents in the school.

A parent sent a message that read “We’re all happy and proud of this achievement. Congratulations to his parents, Architect and Mrs Muyiwa Ige, the entire staff and students of The Vale College, We hope that the way ahead is even brighter with this scholarship being the foundation of his future successes”.

Yet, another parent wrote “A big congratulations to Mayowa, Muyiwa and the entire Ige family including we the ardent admirers of the late Cicero. There is always a reward even here on earth. It is not as if the Iges cannot afford to send Mayowa to any best school in the world but God decided to combine the brains of Uncle Ige and that of Mama Atinuke in Mayowa’s head as a reward for the thousands of offspring of indigent parents who benefited from Uncle Bola Ige’s free education even up to university level between 1979 and 1983. His N500 bursary for undergraduates when a naira was about $1.5 dollars made us kings and many are highly successful in our callings today. Mayowa is a befitting grandson.”

When contacted, Architect Muyiwa Ige initially said he had nothing to say. He later changed his mind to mutter “The glory belongs to God. We are proud of our son. We are more proud of our parents. We thank God for a goodly heritage. May God bless and protect our son and grant him the grace to continue to excel. We also thank all those who have sent in prayers and words of encouragement.
