Rangers International FC of Enugu are through to the Round of 32 of the AITEO Cup competition after the Organizing Committee threw out opponents Kogi United following Wednesday’s abandoned encounter in Lokoja.

The home boys were leading 2-1 before there was spectator encroachment on the pitch of Confluence Stadium after the referee awarded a penalty kick to the reigning NPFL champions.

In it’s decision, the Organizing committee handed Kogi United a two-year ban from the Competition.

The Club Chairman, Abdul Sule, is banned from all match venues and all activities of the Competition for the remainder of the current edition of the Competition.

Equally, for leading and participating in the acts of encroachment, assault on the Referee and consequential disruption of the match, the Head of Kogi United Supporters’ Club, Maikudi Kanin-Bala was slapped with a two-year ban from all football-related activities.

The Club was also fined ₦1,250,000,00 and was also compelled to pay ₦250,000.00 as compensation to the Referee for assault; as well as the costs of any certified medical bills.

Rangers have therefore joined the teams that will enter the pot for Friday’s draw for the Round of 32 games.
