The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 has warned Nigeria  youths not to allow themselves to be used by some individuals who make hate speeches in order to destabilse and destroy the country.

Oba Ogunwusi gave the warning in his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun state, during a press conference heralding Youth Empowerment Summit 2017, organised by the Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (YEN), on Monday.

He said it was time for Nigeria youth to wake up from their slumber and stop being used by some selfish leaders to divide the country.

He said enough of blame game and that the youths and every Nigerian should work together with the government in order to make the Nigeria project work.

Oba Ogunwusi who implored youths to go through Nigerian history and see what the youths during the colonial era did to get the country liberated emphasised that if Nigeria is divided all other black race will be affected.

His words: “We should be mindful of the unity of Nigeria. Hate speeches should be avoided. The youths should not be used for hate speeches. We should be very careful of our utterances and what we are being used for.

“Before 1960, the founding fathers of this country, who were in their 20s and 30s were brought together for positive course. Their objective was very positive and generally acceptable across the entire country and they all came together from various zones to fight for the collective interest of Nigeria.

“As youths, let us come together and stop hate speeches. The founders of Nigeria were not propagating hate speeches. They all agreed on October 1, 1960. And that was how we started as a country. Positive objectives that would take Nigeria to greater level should be pursued. We should join hands with the government and stop blame game”.

In his speech, the National President of YEN, Chris Kohol, stated that the association has empowered over 5,000 youth entrepreneurs in the past 16 months.

He assured that the YES2017 would empower 8,000 youths entrepreneurs in collaboration with the Grand Patron and Chief Host, Oba Ogunwusi.

“The summit tour will be held in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria with over 30,000 delegates, 1000 exhibitors and 60 speakers. It is expected to be the biggest entrepreneurship event to be ever hosted in Nigeria.
