Ooni Commends Nigerian Breweries For Enhancing Youth Emancipation

For channeling her community social responsibilities (CSR) towards youth’s agenda promotion and emancipation in the country, particularly in the South Western part, the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has commended the management of Nigerian Breweries.

The first class monarch gave the commendation at his palace in Ile-Ife during the unveiling of ‘Isedowo’, an empowerment campaign from Goldberg, a brand of Nigerian Breweries for the emancipation of Yoruba youths especially the artisans.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi described the initiative from Goldberg lager beer, as a community partnership aiming towards transforming lives of young Yoruba youths in the South Western part of the country to better.

The monarch, who played host to many royal highnesses and traditional rulers across seven Yoruba speaking states in Nigeria including Kwara State, disclosed that the ‘Isedowo’ initiative from the Nigerian Breweries will serve as a wake up call for other corporate organizations in the entire South West states because the era of waiting for government alone to do everything for the people is gone.

According to Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, “we are now extending our hands of fellowship to other corporate organizations to come to our aids to promote our youths, our artisans, our communities, because this is the environment they are making their profit and they must give back to the people and environment they are making profit from. It is very important for all corporate organizations in the entire South West to see this as a wake up call because Goldberg, a product of Nigerian Breweries has challenged them.

“I want to thank Goldberg for coming to sponsor our artisans all over Yoruba land to the tune of #30 million that will go to participants across the entire South West zone of Nigeria.”

He commended the management of the Nigerian Breweries for the giant strides recorded so far, not only in the area of culture and tradition promotion alone but also in ensuring that lives of the people particularly youths are getting better everyday through their various initiatives. Oba Ogunwusi, therefore, urged the organizers to ensure equal distribution of slots among states in the South West.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Franco Maria Maggi expressed that “Isedowo” initiative is a platform designed to equip young Yoruba men and women with the focus to boost their business ideas.

Mr. Franco noted that the initiative is to extend connection points of Goldberg beyond culture and tradition promotion to supporting entrepreneurs from South West, adding that the objective is to positively transform lives of beneficiaries with spillover effect on the larger economy by way of increased job creation and income.

He established that 100 of the participants will be selected and rewarded with a grant of #300,000 each after selection and screening exercises have been completed.

Mr. Franco Maria Maggi promised the support of the company for the partnership sponsor of cultural festivals

including Osun Osogbo, Udiroko, Oranyan, Ojude Oba, Olojo and Oyemekun.

Goldberg is a brand of Nigerian Breweries, a leading supporter of culture and tradition, which also assists in the discovery of youth potential. Goldberg, in 2017 expanded its traditional music talent hunt show which focused on Fuji music and Juju music and christened ‘Ariya Repete’. The competition elicited wide participation and support from across the South West and produced winners who have been rewarded with cash prizes and recording deals.
