The national coordinator of New Nigeria Nationalists, Mrs Foluso Makanjuola-Oyenuga has told Nigerians that to rescue the country and put her back on the path of restitution and rectitude, there must be an emergence of a new acute and accurate leadership that is built on an equally new culture of sincerity, capacity, integrity and strategy and only that can lift the country from its present predicament.

Speaking at the Friends In the Media Interaction Event organized by New Nigeria Nationalists, a new political group, held at Bola Memorial Anglican Church hall, Ikeja, Lagos, Mrs Makanjuola-Oyenuga said Nigeria needs a new set of rigorous leadership that sees collective growth and social development as the singular purpose of governance and any other thrust of leadership that does not put the interest of the people first and far above any other consideration cannot endure.

“The new leadership must be sincere as sincere can be. When they talk we must be able to take them for their words. Indeed, their words must be their bonds.

“This leadership must be a deliberate and decisive deviation from the usual kind of leadership that has ruled and ruined this country for almost seven decades,” Mrs Oyenuga said.

Oyenuga, who is the Managing Director of Sofia Limited and a Managing Partner at Ade Esan & Company, Chartered Accountants further said “we cannot deceive ourselves in this country that all is well except people who are benefiting from present decay in Nigeria.

“Today, nobody is happy with Nigeria the way it is except those who are benefitting from the mess that the nation has become. From the east to the west and from the north to the south, it is the same tale of disappointment and depression, and we need not continue to fool ourselves any longer.

“Indeed, the survival of Nigeria as a nation is now under serious doubt and contention as drums of war are beating from all sections of the population including the government. And everybody is at sea regarding what to do to rein in this monster that is threatening to tear the nation apart including every strand of fabric that holds the structure our society together. This sad situation must not be allowed to continue,” she opined.

Oyenuga, who was the gubernatorial aspirant of Peoples’ Party of Nigeria at the 2014 Osun State Governorship election, further explain that the aim of the New Nigeria Nationalists, which is a political movement, is to rally round concerned Nigeria to do something consequential about the political and social leadership of the country.

“The new leadership must have the capacity to productively and sustainably impact on the lives of the general citizenry by demonstrating the acumen that is required to cause a significant shift from the usual laissez-faire fiasco that is threatening to now drown the entire commonwealth.

“Integrity is also indispensable in the character of the emerging leadership that is set to reclaim and rebuild whatever is left of our dear nation. Leadership the world over is driven by integrity. But unfortunately in Nigeria, this was hardly the case. But henceforth, the New Nigeria Leadership shall not compromise on genuine, visible and demonstrable integrity that must result in the new nation of our collective dream.

“The New Nigeria Nationalists is a resounding response to the need for all those concerned about Nigeria to stand up and be counted among the proactive nation-builders who have the courage to dream of a better nation, and the commitment to do something to bring it about.

“Because we are eminently aware that nothing moves until it is moved, The New Nigeria Nationalists being a political movement is set to put relevant machinery in place and deploy all available resources to ensure the realization of this lofty dream and generational ambition,” she concluded.
