A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has posited that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is jittery and afraid of the coalition of PDP stalwarts.

The PDP chieftain stated that condemnation of coming together of PDP in the media by the APC has shown that the APC is truly afraid of the imminent defeat it will suffer in 2019 in the state.

Makinde spoke while addressing journalists during the PDP caretaker committee members meeting held on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital.

The meeting was called to fine tune ways of ensuring smooth forthcoming Ward, Local and State congresses of the party billed to take place on Saturdays; October 21, 28 and November 4th.

Makinde who advised the APC to look for other ways of clearing the mess it brought to the state six years ago, noted that the recent condemnation being sponsored against PDP by APC will not prevent the party from winning the state in 2019.

He said the APC should look for other ways of appealing to the people instead of looking at the faults of the opposition.

Makinde advised APC to look for ways of appealing to the people instead of fighting a war of blame.

He said “They should look for ways of appealing to the people instead of blackmailing us, they are afraid of our coming together.

“And if I were them, they have spent six years in the state, they should start to explain how they utilized the peoples money and tell us whether Oyo state is far better than when they came in.

“I think my advice is that they should start looking for things that can persuade the people and not finding the faults in the opposition.

Speaking on the forthcoming congresses, Makinde said that the party was prepared for the congresses.

He said “We are prepared and this is not something that is new. PDP has been in existence since 1998, we did it in 1999, this is something they do every now and there. Preparation is ongoing.

On the Chairmanship position of the party which is being contested by two indigenes of the state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja and

Professor Tahoeed Ladoja, Makinde said it was a good omen for the party and the state in particular.

He said “There would not be any clash of interest, I think the constitution of the party and also constitution of the country allows people to go forward and vote for candidates of their choice.

“I think it is good for Oyo State, we have eminently qualified sons of the state that can go and fight it out at the national level, it is something good for us.
