All arrangements have been concluded for Osun State Government to commission another state-of-the-art school in Ilesha on Tuesday.

In a similar development, government will also unveil the distribution of Citizens Identification Initiative Cards called “Omoluabi Cards” with the commissioning of the Ilesa Government High School.

Government made the disclosure at a press briefing heralding the official inauguration of the mega school, at Governor’s office, Abere, Osogbo.

The school, according to the state government, is in continuation of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s education revolution, reclassification and remodelling.

Addressing the pressmen, the  Commissioner for Education, Mr Kolawole Wasiu Omotunde-Young, ‎said the commissioning of Ilesa Government High School remains a clear testimony of the state’s resolve to build a complete being through the provision of functional, quality and qualitative education.

He said the present administration has invested larger chunks of its resources on education, a development which he said had distinguished Osun among its peers.

Omotunde-Young, in the statement described the model schools built across the nooks and crannies of the state by the Aregbesola’s administration as one of the factors that had placed Osun above its counterparts in the country.

“We have commissioned a similar school in Osogbo and to be precise, Osogbo Government High School, which was commissioned and put into use by the President Muhammadu Buhari on September ‎1st 2016.

“So, the state-of-the art Ilesa Government High School slated for commissioning ‎also has the modern facilities, including internet as its counterparts in Osogbo.

“Our efforts to ensure that every child accesses quality education has been yielding positive results since inception because it is on records that our administration met a complete, deplorable education sector.

“When we assumed power in 2010, the schools were like in shambles with dilapidated structures, deplorable facilities that did not attract quality education not to talk of producing versatile products.

“But we have taken education seriously. We have made education a non-negotiable priority in all we do. We have succeeded in our education reclassification and categorization as our schools today remain the model for all,” the commissioner added.

While intimating the media on the importance of Omoluabi Cards, which is to be flagged off and distributed freely to the public particularly the pupils and students on the same day, Omotunde-Young said the initiative is to ensure accurate documentation of the citizens in the state.

He said the initiative will help the state to have a genuine statistics of the population of the people residing in the state so as to enhance development and transformation.

He however disclosed that about 2million citizens have been documented through the initiative.

He continued : “The Citizen Identification Cards popularly called “Omoluabi Cards” is to help facilitate proper citizen documentation, identification and development.

“It is designed to make government closer to the citizens and as well make citizens to move closer to the government as the cards will give government insight on the need to provide essential needs of the populace.”
