Former Oyo Majority Leader, KK Adisa Dies

The death of a former Majority Leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kilani Kunle Adisa has been announced.

He died in the early hours of Monday, October 23, 2017 at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan during a brief illness at the age of 78.

He has since been buried at his residence in Iyana Court, Ile Tuntun, Oke Odo, Ibadan according to Muslim rites.

His 8th day fidau prayer comes up on Monday 30th October, 2017 at 10am.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly has commiserated with the family members of the deceased over his death and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. The House equally observed a minute silence in honour of the deceased.

This followed a submission by Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige who informed the House of the demise of Hon. Adisa during his personal explanation at the plenary.

Hon. KK Adisa, as he was fondly called, was The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 1991-1993 during the third republic.

The deceased,Hon. Kelani Kunle Adisa was born on 12th December, 1942 at Oke Oluokun area, Kudeti, Ibadan to the family of late Alhaji and Alhaja Adisa Oniyo.

He started his elementary education at IMG primary school, Oloro, Ibadan and Mayflower Secondary School, Ikenne for his secondary education. He attended a course at Nigeria Institute for Oceanography & Marine Institute at Federal Marine Fisheries School, Lagos from February 16, 1981 – September 10, 1983 and graduated as Fishery Assistants.

He was appointed into the services of the Oyo State government at the fishery division at the Ministry of Agricultural, Natural Resources and Rural Integration during the then western region between December 12, 1962 and retired from active service on 15th December, 1988 having served the State meritoriously.

Upon his retirement from service, he joined partisan politics and was elected as the honourable member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan South East Constituency II under the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) between 1991-1993. He was made the Majority Leader of the third House of Assembly in Oyo State before the third republic was truncated by the military in 1993.

Hon. Kelani Kunle Adisa had also served as the Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to former Governor Rashidi Ladoja between 2003-2007. He was also the National Vice Chairman of the Defunct Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN).

He is survived by a wife, Mrs Ramota Motunrayo Adisa and three children.
