The Leadership of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of secondary schools (ANCOPSS) Oyo State branch have described Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi (popularly known as SOJ) as one politician who can be said to be a good ambassador of Oyo State representing the good people of Oyo South Senatorial District at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Abuja.

ANCOPSS also said it was impressed by his continuous support for the educational development in Oyo state and also happy at the way and manner which he is using his education support programmes/scheme to improve standard of education in the state by constructing different blocks of classrooms equipped with facilities like chairs and tables, ceiling fans, markers board with additional supply of motorised boreholes and modern VIP toilet in every school where he has been carrying out constituency projects in the last two years in office as well giving scholarship to students in tertiary institutions.

The Leadership of ANCOPSS in the state equally said it has been keeping close watch on the activities of Senator Adesoji Akanbi in the last two years of his stay in the Senate and that aside from doing very well in his legislative duties, he has at the same time empowered many students and teachers in Oyo State, thus becoming a special friend of teachers and lover of education in the state.

However, to express their appreciation to Senator Adesoji Akanbi, ANCOPSS in their monthly meeting held at the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) building at Amuloko area in Ona Ara Local Government of Oyo State on Tuesday, 17th October 2017, invited Senator Adesoji Akanbi for their Executive meeting, to say a big thank you to the lawmaker.

At the meeting, all the head teachers from different parts of Oyo State including Ibarapa zone, Oyo, Oke Ogun zones and other parts of the state eulogized Senator Adesoji Akanbi and gave him a standing ovation to commend him for the relentless good work he has been doing in the area of educational welfare and support for both teachers and principals in the state and how he has changed the faces of many schools in terms of empowerment and reconstruction.

Speaking on behalf of other principals of secondary schools with Senator Akanbi in their midst, the President of ANCOPSS in Oyo State, Mr. Emmanuel Oladokun Aremu described Senator Akanbi as a rare politician who has been fulfilling most of his electoral promises and has not disconnected himself from the people that voted for him unlike some other politicians.

In his words, Mr. Oladokun Aremu said “we need politician and leaders like Senator Adesoji Akanbi. His own type of politics is not only special and unique, it is also worth of emulation. This man is a practical and practicing democrat and a true progressive. We don’t want a leader that will speak and not carry it out.

“Senator Akanbi has been doing what he preaches, we need more of his types in Oyo State’s political space and we pray for more progress for him.”

Also speaking, the secretary of ANCOPSS, Pastor Emmanuel Babajide said, he was dazzled at the style of leadership of Senator Akanbi, adding that this is the first time a political office holder in Oyo State will come to ANCOPSS to identify with Principals of Secondary school in Oyo State.

Pastor Babajide further described Senator Akanbi as a performer, who has done a lot to improve the standard of education in Oyo State through different intervention projects and schemes aimed at uplifting students in the state.

The Assistant secretary of ANCOPSS in Oyo State, Mr. Ayinla Sunday Olatunbosun also thanked Senator Adesoji Akanbi for his welfare programmes for both teachers and principals in the State.

Responding, Senator Akanbi thanked the school principals for their selfless service and described the head teachers as leaders creating and molding leaders.

He, however, donated the sum of one million naira as first installment towards the construction of ANCOPSS Secretariat building in Oyo State.
