The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has admonished members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to allow members’ internal wranglings to affect the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
APC also called on the citizens to be weary of the party, saying that the factional congresses held by the party is a pointer that nothing good can come from an unholy alliance.
APC in a statement by its Director of Media, Research and Strategy Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde explained that the coming together of different politicians from Accord Party, Social Democratic Party and PDP was a marriage of convenience which cannot be productive.
He stated that PDP’s house in the state would continue to be divided based on the selfishness and dispositions of all the individuals that formed the alliance, adding that an alliance built on distrust and greediness would be futile in productivity.
According to him, “No one should be surprised about what is happening in PDP. There was crisis during the local government congress across the state and the factional congress held last weekend was expected. It is marriage of convenience among different greedy people and nothing good will come out of it.
“Some of the individuals that make up the party prefer a one man show and the same thing was witnessed during their time at the helms of affairs in the state. Oyo State can be built with collectiveness of individuals and not through factionalization or individualism.
“We believe people are watching the unfolding scenario with keen interest and can actually decide what best suits them when the time comes. We believe that no one will be interested in the violence and thuggery of the past. Hence, we want to appeal to our people to be weary of these politicians who are hell bent on returning the state to the yesteryears of anarchy which characterized their administration,” Dr Olatunde posited.
