The creation of additional 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in addition to the twenty exist Local Government Councils through legislative instrument by the Ogun State House of Assembly as presented to it by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration was meant to enhance democratic governance in the State.
To this end, the Local government councils and LCDAs administrators have been tasked to ensure continued development of their council areas with a view to enhancing the socio-economic well -being of people at the grassroot.
The State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led by Hon. Olusola Sonuga stated this in continuation of the oversight visit of the Committee to Ifo Local Government Council and Coker/Ibogun LCDA, Isheri/Akute /Ajuwon LCDA and Agbado/Oke Aro LCDA.
Sonuga in company of other members including Ganiyu Oyedeji, Olayiwola Ojodu, Olusola Bankole, Akinpelu Aina and Julianah Akintayo, said that it was imperative for the councils to ensure enhanced productivity of all departments in the councils so as to achieve a result-oriented system in line with the present administration’s policy at ensuring quality service delivery system.
The lawmakers pointed out the need to ensure vibrant and productive councils, while evolving more measures for improved revenue in their respective domains advising them to put in place more projects that would impact positively on the standard of living of the residents.
In their remarks, the Chairmen of the Local Government Councils and LCDAs, Mr. Hakeem Bello and Juwon Gbadebo, Bode Fakunle and Ekun Adebayo, promised to contribute more to the socio-economic development of their councils with emphasis on quality service delivery through credible but people friendly governance.
