Again, the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has announced that elections into local councils in the state will be held in the next four months adding that his party, the All Progressives Congress will win 100 per cent.

The governor has also inaugurated fourteen newly appointed Caretaker Chairmen For the remaining local government and local council development areas (LCDAs) in the State.

The swearing in ceremony was performed by the Governor at the executive chamber, Governor’s office following the screening and approval of the names of the chairmen by the House of Assembly at its plenary on Thursday.

The new Caretaker Chairmen were those that were missed during the inauguration of the Caretaker Chairmen on 7th April, 2017 as a result of the legal tussle surrounded the conduct of the local government election instituted by some Baales in Oyo town.

While performing the swearing in ceremony, Governor Abiola Ajimobi assured that the election into the 33 local government areas and 35 local council development areas will be held in the next three and a half months in Oyo State as all obstacles including legal issues affecting its conduct would have been resolved in its entirety.

Governor Ajimobi who expressed optimism that the APC as a party would clear the LG election one hundred per cent  because of its performances, stressed that the opposition parties in the State have virtually gone moribund and the APC should use the LG election to bury them completely.

Governor Ajimobi who reminded the Caretaker Chairmen that their appointment was not for aggrandizement, hinted that their chances to be chosen as the candidate during the forthcoming local government election would be hinged on their performances in their respective local government areas and LCDAs

He commended the Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly for giving the list of the names forwarded to the house accelerated screening and approval.

Some of the Caretaker Chairmen who spoke with journalists shortly after their swearing in appreciated the Governor for giving them opportunity to serve and promise to work in tandem with the vision of the present administration’s agenda of transformation, reformation and repositioning.
