For qualifying for 2018 FIFA World Cup slated for Russia and to avoid unnecessary rancor with the players, Nigeria Football Federation has revealed that Super Eagles players and officials will be paid $2.4 million.

Earlier, the NFF reached an agreement with the Super Eagles stars as regards to their bonuses at the tournament in Russia.

The Nigerian Federation want to avoid a repeat of the incident that occurred at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil that forced the Sports Minister to travel to Brazil on a private jet, with nearly four million dollars in cash.

The Super Eagles had deliberately skipped a training session to protest against the non-payment of a qualifying bonus ahead of their second round game against France.

”The NFF have agreed to give the team $2.4 million out of the $8 million we are expecting from FIFA,” Ademola Olajire said.

Nigeria qualified for their sixth World Cup with a game to spare courtesy of their 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo on October 7.
