President Muhammadu Buhari and his policy implementation have been blamed for the low purchasing power being experienced by Nigerians.

This accusation was leveled at Buhari by an aspirant for the post of Deputy National Publicity Secretary in the forthcoming National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Diran Odeyemi.

Odeyemi therefore called on the President, to forthwith, stop draining the economy of cash through treasury bills.

Odeyemi, who accused Buhari the administration of not having clear cut programme to stimulate economy, said government’s mopping cash from the economy through treasury bills is partially responsible for the limited cash in circulation.

He said government’s action is not only tightening the noose around the neck of many average earners in the country, it also exposes the cluelessness and improper application of ideas by the present administration.

“You won’t believe it if I tell you that this administration has been mopping cash off the economy through treasury bills. This action is part of the reasons people’s purchasing power is rather poor.

“This is economic crisis. Workers are owed salaries. Contractors working for government are owed billions. There is simply cash crunch and yet, Buhari’s government every week is taking cash from what is in circulation. This shows this government does not know how to approach the problems with the country’s economy”, Odeyemi.

Speaking on his ambition, Odeyemi said his team will be visiting delegates to the PDP convention across the six South West states to seek their support.

He urged members of the party to remain peaceful, shelve individual differences and work towards returning the party to power in 2019, saying only a united PDP will show APC the way out of government in the next general election.
