The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji has prayed for the Super Eagles to enjoy good luck ahead of their campaign in Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, describing supporter-ship as a key element in guiding the team to successful outing.
The monarch made the call while receiving the national chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) Prince Vincent Okumagba who visited the Olubadan’s palace on Saturday as part of activities marking his one year anniversary in office.
The Olubadan of Ibadan thumped up Okumagba for many sacrifices he had made to portray the image of the country in positive light before the sporting world through his activities with the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, urging him not to relent until the Nigerian Super Eagles return with the World Cup Shield assuring them of good luck during their outing in Russia.
Okumagba in his remark described the royal blessings from the monarch as good impetus to the outing of the team in Russia 2018 saying his coming to Ibadan to celebrate his one year anniversary is of high significance to the history of the supporters club.
“This is where the first chapter of Nigeria Football Supporters Club was established, that is why the blessings of our royal father, the Olubadan of Ibadan is important to our preparations for Russia 2018”, Okumagba noted.
The monarch who accepted to be a patron of NFSC was decorated with the paraphernalia of the supporters’ club together with his two wives amid funfair.
