One of the old boys of Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan and Oyo Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, in conjunction with the exco of the school’s Old Boys Association has given the go-ahead for the flag-off of the activities marking the 60th anniversary of the great institution.
The Diamond anniversary is scheduled to hold between Monday, January 22 and Sunday, January 28, 2018.
The Governor gave the go-ahead during a visit by the leadership of the association led by the National President, Prof. Chief Olufemi Omisore, FNITP, JP. The visit was part of the activities marking the Diamond Anniversary of the School and to specially celebrate the 68th birthday of the old boy, Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Earlier, the National President in company of the Chairman of the Diamond Anniversary, Mr. Tony Aletor and other eminent members of NEC and the Diamond Anniversary Committee presented the programme of events for the anniversary to the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Sir Col. Bola Ogunsanwo (rtd.) for his wise counsel.
Responding, the Chairman, BOT, expressed his delight over the plans for the anniversary.
Said he, “My joy knows no bound today as I receive your team. Our vision for a new Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan is becoming a reality. I assure you of not only my support but the support of the members of the Board of Trustees.” Speaking further, he reiterated the fact that his set, 1958/63 Class will renovate the first block of classrooms and get it delivered before the anniversary.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Diamond Anniversary, Mr. Tony Aletor has further called on sets to support efforts of his committee in repositioning the School and towards having an evergreen anniversary.
He assured that “on-going renovation works by sets shall be continually encouraged while tickets for the grand finale of the anniversary shall be made available for leadership of sets. We shall do all we can to return the School back to her old glory”, he said.
