A Truce and Re-conciliatory Committee has been established to find a lasting solution to the crisis created by the installation of 21 kings by the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, in Ibadanland.

A spokesperson for the Authentic Mogajis in Ibadan, Chief Wale Oladoja, on Sunday told journalists that a meeting of the committee was convened by a very highly respected Ibadan elder and the Chairman of Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Dr. Lekan Are.

He added that the family heads and members of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes had agreed to work together to bring an end to the crisis.

Oladoja said that the committee had Are as chairman while the President-General of the CCII, Yemi Soladoye, would serve as the coordinator. Some of the AMI members, including Mogaji Oloko, Abass Oloko; Mogaji Adanla, Chief Abduljelyl Karheem;  Mogaji Akere, Moshud Gbolagade; and Mogaji Olasomi, Ademola Oladosu; are in the reconciliatory committee.

Oladoja noted that the Mogajis had agreed to the peace moves in a way that the pride and dignity of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, would be protected.

“The meeting was successful because of the presence of respectable and prominent peace-loving Ibadan elders. We thank all Ibadan sons and daughters for allowing peace to reign. We are still solidly behind the Olubadan and we shall not waver. We wish to assure them that truce is on the way and our prayer is that the ongoing reconciliation ends well.

“As true sons of Ibadan, we the Mogajis are sheathing our swords especially now that our respected Ibadan elders under the leadership of Dr. Are have waded in to resolve the issue and we are ready to give peace a chance. We shall continue to communicate with Ibadan people as family heads,” Oladoja said.
