Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly has said the House remains united and irrevocably committed to the success of the ongoing rebuilding mission of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration.

He added that it has thus, resolved to continue to enact people-oriented legislations and other oversight roles to better the lives of the people.

The Speaker, who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta, explained that as representatives of the people, the House of Assembly which consisted of lawmakers from different political leanings, always placed the progress and development of the state above party affiliations.

Adekunbi remarked that issues of employment generation, poverty alleviation, infrastructural development, health, education, security and other social welfare programmes that would uplift the status of the citizenry remained paramount to the Lawmakers.

On the marginal reduction in the 2018 Appropriation Bill passed by the Assembly, the Speaker noted that the reduction was necessitated by some slight adjustments in the estimates of some few agencies which could also be further adjusted by the executive arm through supplementary bill.

Responding to alleged reports of clashes between herdsmen and farmers in some parts of the State, the lawmaker said that government had stepped up measures by contacting relevant security agencies to monitor the situation, while advising the people to always report promptly, strange movements in their communities to security agents.

The Speaker further counseled religious adherents in the State to promote peace and shun act inimical to the well-being of others, by avoiding any form of noise pollution, saying no one should infringe on the rights of others in the guise of propagating religious activities.

He also implored them to continue to promote peaceful co-existence in their domains, as according to him no meaningful development could be achieved in an atmosphere devoid of peace and tranquility.
