Rescue Organization Decorates Lagelu FM’s Ajibola Akinyefa As Rescue Ambassador

For his remarkable contributions, commitment and promotion of road safety activities, the Road Accident Information & Rescue Organization has decorated ace broadcaster, Ajibola Akinyefa of Lagelu FM Radio Station as “Rescue Ambassador.”

The award ceremony was held at the organization’s Emergency Rescue Information Control Centre (ERICC), State Ministry of Works, Secretariat, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

In his address, the organization’s Commandant General, Okanlawon Bamigboye reemphasized the aims and objectives of the organization which is to addressing carnage on the road, environment as well as to serve as an advocacy group for safety consciousness among road users in the country.

He noted that the Emergency Rescue Information Control Centre is a point where information received through phone calls from members of the public is dispatched immediately to rescue marshals and other relevant rescue agencies such as the Federal Road Safery Corps, Fire Service, Nigeria Police, National Emergency Management Authority and Civil Defence for prompt assistance.

Commander Bamigboye explained that the organization has established good relationship with all the afored mentioned rescue agencies in order to ensure that the number of deaths on the road as a result of mishaps is reduced to barest minimum.

He reiterated that Mr. Ajibola Akinyefa’s contributions and commitment towards road safety activities earned him the honour. He added that the ace presenter is the second personality to be decorated Rescue Ambassador after  Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Mr. Ajibola Akinyefa in his short remarks, commended commander Bamigboye Okanlawon and other rescue marshals for their selfless and humanitarian service to road accident victims, and towards ensuring that accident rate is reduced.

The Lagelu FM Radio presenter noted that for the organization to continue to record more successes in her activities, there is need for media support to ensure that people are more aware of the organization’s activities, as well as financial support from government and well-meaning individuals in the society to avail the organization necessary facilities to carry out her activities effectively.

Mr. Akinyefa, therefore, promised his support for the promotion and propagation of the organization’s campaign and activities.
