Akure Crowd Trouble: LMC To Drop Off Assaulted Referees

Three Referees who were attacked during the Sunshine Stars Nigeria Professional Football League clash against Kano Pillars have been recommended to be dropped from officiating any “future NPFL matches”.

Referees David Akure and assistant referees, Apine Emmanuel, and Lewis Gwantana shared photos of injuries sustained after the NPFL match in Akure from missiles hurled at them by the home fans.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the LMC has recommended the names of the officials to the NFF “for withdrawal from further consideration for future NPFL matches for conducts capable of bringing the league to disrepute.”

The LMC noted that while they posed and widely circulated photographs showing the injury to one of the assistant referees, the incident was not adequately captured in the official match report submitted which was also submitted late.
