Ogun Assembly Passes Resolution Advocating Health, Fire Safety In Organisations

As part of its concern for the promotion of safety and overall well-being of the society, the Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on organisations to adhere strictly to health and safety measures by organising fire safety training and awareness for workers on regular basis.

Opening debate on the motion at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi; the sponsor and member representing Ijebu North II State Constituency, Hon. Oludare Kadiri, harped on the need for private and public organisations to organize orientation on safety for their personnel to prevent loss of lives and property, adding that such measures when put in place would equip the organisations to prevent disasters.

Corroborating the sponsor’s submission, other Honourable members including Tunde Sanusi, Yetunde Sogbein-Adekanbi, Adebowale Ojuri and Bowale Solaja explained that the resolution when implemented would assist the organisations in having a well-trained personnel that would handle fire disasters, thereby saving the organisation and society at large from avoidable loss and destruction.

They added that the awareness would include check on the fire fighting equipment, training of designated staff and inculcation of necessary training in health safety and fire prevention.

Also speaking, Honourables Akinpelu Aina, Idowu Olowofuja, Olusola Bankole and Olujimi Otukoya posited that the State being the industrial hub of the nation, needed a resolution that would enforce the inclusion of health and fire prevention in any organisation.
