The Oyo State House of Assembly has stepped down the Local government Autonomy bill that was sent by the national Assembly for proposed Amendment for further consideration.

The decision to step down the local government Autonomy bill was to allow the concerned stakeholders to participate in a public hearing on the bill following a motion moved by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Abdulwasi Musah on the floor of the house.

According to Hon Musah, there was the need to step down the bill to allow public hearing before the house can take any decision on it.

While corroborating the Deputy Speaker, Hon Olusegun Ajanaku and Honorable Olusegun Olaleye said local government autonomy bill is a sensitive matter that deserves the participation of all stakeholders in the public hearing.

However, the decision did not go down well with Hon Fatai Adesina who cautioned the house not to take any decision that would tarnish the good image of Oyo’s 8th Assembly.

After the separate reactions from the lawmakers, the House went on voting session where 12 out of the 15 Alterations were approved, one rejected and two were stepped down.

The Speaker, Hon Michael Adeyemo said the date for public hearing on the local government Autonomy would be announced soon and called on all stakeholders to participate in the public hearing for the proposed amendment.

Meanwhile, the two bills including Customary Court of Appeal(Amendment bill 2017)and that of High Court (further Amendment bill 2017 were passed into law.
