There was a mild drama at Oremeta Area of Jankata, Apata in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Monday when a man escaped being lynched by residents of the area.

The man whose identity could not be ascertained by PMParrot was suspected to be a kidnapper on a surveillance mission.

According to an old woman popularly called Iya Egba, the residents had been observing his movements for some time.

She said, “he was always dressed in dirty clothes and carrying a bag while moving up and down the street.

“Having heard news reports in the media where some people have become victims to kidnappers who were earlier thought to be madmen, some youths decided to challenge him.

“In the attempt to confront him, the man took to his heels and when he was caught, he was rough handled and beaten up”, Iya Egba said.

She added that when the man and his bag were searched, only refuse of all sorts were found on him.

“As he was also incoherent in his utterances, he was released and allowed to go”.
