In spite of Super Eagles’ failure to fly in London on Tuesday night as two second half goals by Serbian forward Aleksandr Mitrovic condemned Gernot Rohr to only his second defeat in 14 matches in charge of Nigeria, the chairman of Super Eagles Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba has urged Nigerian not to lose faith in the team.

While speaking with newsmen after the match, he commended the Franco-German tactician that has spent 20 months in-charge of Eagles, wining eight matches, with four draws (all 1-1) and just two losses, describing his outing as a respectable one.

“The squad was quite depleted before this game, as you can remember that Captain Mikel Obi was unable to leave China due to work permit issue, the midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo still down with injury and forward Kelechi Iheanacho knocked out by a broken arm, the defender Leon Balogun was reported sick and had to be replaced.

“So we can’t really measure the strength of our team in this manner, although the players used also needed to be tested and we all see what they’re capable of doing, that’s the essence of friendly matches, I believe the team is still on course and there is no cause for alam”, Okumagba posited.

Next up for the Eagles in the pre-FIFA World Cup build-up is the Send Forth match against Democratic Republic of Congo in Nigeria on Monday, 28th May, and would be followed by a prestige game against England’s Three Lions at Wembley five days later.
