Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan glided her way to Commonwealth Games gold in Australia on Friday in a time of 12.68 at the Carrara Stadium Track.

The 2015 African Games 100m Hurdles champion beat Jamaican duo of Danielle Williams and Yanique Thompson to pole position in the 100m Hurdles final to grab Nigeria’s second goal medal on the tracks on Day 9 of the games.

The 20-year-old Sprinter was one of three favorites for a podium spot with qualification time and looked the part straight off the block.

She glided over the hurdles showing strength, stamina and finesse in her technique. She fixed her eyes firmly on every obstacle course as she did the finish line not glancing to check her competing field.

The final time was .11 slower than her season’s best but it won her gold – the second of her senior career – the first after three years.

The Ijebu-Ode born sprinter who registered for only two events in the Gold Coast could emerge again on Friday for the 4 x 100m relay final.

Meanwhile, after what looks a good hunt for Team Nigeria on Friday, the Country’s medal haul rises to 18 Gold 8, Silver 5 and Bronze 5.
