Abduction Of Mace: Oyo House Reacts, Says ‘It Was Sacrilegious’

The Oyo State House of Assembly has reacted to the abduction of the Mace of the Senate on Wednesday, describing it as ‘sacrilegious’.

The Speaker who reacted on behalf of the house at its plenary on Thursday, described the attack as a slap on Nigeria’s nascent democracy and called for proper prosecution of the masterminds of the dastardly act.

Meanwhile, the House has passed the Customary Court bill 2017 into law after scaling through the third reading.

The Customary Court bill 2017 was passed into law after the report of the committee that considered it was presented before the house by its chairman, Hon. Olukayode Akande.

After the report was presented, the house constituted itself into committee of the whole and considered the bill clause by clause before it was finally passed into law.

Similarly, the Oyo State Gaming Bill 2018 and Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority Amendment Bill 2018 was read for the second time at the plenary.

Speaking on the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority Amendment bill, Hon. Wumi Oladeji representing Ogbomosho North state constituency urged the House to give the bill proper consideration to enable it see the light of the day.

The Speaker, Hon. Michael Adesina Adeyemo after extensive deliberation by the lawmakers forwarded the two bills to the respective committees for further consideration.

The House has adjourned its sitting till Tuesday 24th April, 2018.
