Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has directed that all the players invited for camping must report at the Uyo base in Akwa Ibom State on May 22 or face sanctions.
According to Official sources, the coach wants the team to have at least five days quality training before they depart for Port Harcourt where they will play DR Congo at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium.
“The idea to camp in Uyo is to formally thank the people and government of Akws Ibom for hosting the Super Eagles all through the qualifying matches of the World Cup. We have to open our camp in Uyo in appreciation of their moral and financial support,” sources said.
“The coach has warned that he will not tolerate late comers to the camp which opens on May 21st for officials and 22nd for players. Rohr wants to hit the ground running with the World Cup preparation and has urged the players to report on time.”
The players and their officials led by Rohr will pay a courtesy call on the State governor, Udom Emmanuel and if possible play a test game with a local side before leaving for Port Harcourt on May 26 for the Congo DR friendly match billed for May 28.
