World Boxing Council heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder has claimed that unified heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua has pulled out of their proposed fight.
Both camps were close to agreeing to a deal to fight weeks ago with the American boxer said to be ready to fight Joshua, who holds three of the four major world championships belt, in United Kingdom, where the Nigerian-born British has won each of his 21 bouts.
Wilder unbeaten in 40 bouts, tweeted on Thursday to express frustration with the Joshua camp.
“My team and I bent over backwards … accepting everything they threw at us just to find out this boy is terrified of me, p****,” Wilder wrote on Twitter.
“I said all that past s*** to tell the story and to apologise. I’m sorry guys they played us all. F*** ’em.
“We move forward, the future is still bright.”
Joshua, the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Oragnisati champions, is expected to take on Alexander Povetkin, who is his mandatory challenger.
