Veteran broadcaster, Alhaji Abolade Salami will on Sunday, July 29, roll out the drums in commemoration of the 40th year of his successful career.

He disclosed this on Monday while featuring on a popular Fresh FM 105.9 monitored in Ibadan by PMParrot.

Explaining the essence of celebrating the four decades he has spent in broadcasting, Salami said he was “planning to celebrate God’s faithfulness and mercy” upon his career and life. The celebration will hold at the famous Jogor Centre, off Liberty Road, Ibadan.

Salami revealed that he has been a broadcaster since 1978 after his secondary school days and has had the opportunity to work with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State through the help of Ezekiel Abidoye Akinwumi, who he described as his elder brother.

In his words, “I started as a Studio Manager and was given three different trainings, these included; basic, intermediate and senior but I was eventually sacked during the military regime but I was later restored after a year and was asked to joined those who were in Programmes Department” .

He went on to disclose that he voluntarily left FRCN to join the first private radio station in Oyo State, Splash FM as a pioneer staff member.

Abolade Salami, who is presently management staff member with Dr Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM Radio Station is one of the most talented and creative on-air personalities currently ruling the airwaves in the South West of Nigeria.

While speaking further about his 40th anniversary event he submitted “All is set for the event to hold next Sunday. We are hopeful of hosting governors, royalties, big political icons, the creamiest in the society. My boss, Dr Olayinka Joel Ayefele MON, will be there to co-host our guests.”
