Pay More Attention To Dental, Oral Health, Ogun Residents Charged

The people of Ogun State have been enjoined to always pay attention to their general health wellbeing by according priority to dental and oral health, mental, emotional as well as psychological fitness.

The Secretary of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, (MDCAN) Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Chapter, Dr (Mrs) Bunmi Fatungase gave the admonition at a free medical screening for members and staff of the State House of Assembly at the Assembly complex, Oke-Mosan,  Abeokuta.

Fatungase stressed the need to change toothbrush quarterly,  embark on disease prevention through regular health screening and immunisation.

She counselled the people to be conscious of their family medical history,  eat healthy diet especially moderate protein and natural meals, consume less salt and  drink more water to promote healthy living.

The consultant underscored the need for regular exercise,  especially brisk walk and avoid self medication among other health tips.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Association, Dr Adekunle Ariba said it was important to ensure the prevention of diseases, counselling the people not to fall sick before seeing their doctors.

Responding,  the Speaker, Rt. Hon.Suraju Ishola Adekunbi commended the high level of commitment and professionalism exhibited by the consultants in promoting healthy society, adding that the screening would go a long way at ensuring the healthy living of the beneficiaries.

Adekunbi, who added that a health citizenry remained an asset to any nation, explained that outbreak of disease was a barrier to the socio-economic development of any nation.

In another development,  Speaker Adekunbi has commended the leadership of the State Chapter of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) for their support through prayers and advice which had led to the success of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration’s rebuilding mission.

Adekunbi gave the commendation while receiving the Great Achievers’ Leadership Award from the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), led by Senior Superintendent Apostle Adetokunbo Adeaga in recognition of his versatility, doggedness and purposeful leadership in managing the affairs of the State legislature in the last seven years.
